Bio

Dr. Kingshuk Sarkar is Associate Professor in the area of General Management and Public Policy Area at the Goa Institute of Management. He had earlier served as labour administrator for more than two decades with the Govt. of West Bengal. His interests include labour & industrial economics, development economics, business economics, labour administration and labour laws, plantation economics and labour, labour laws and labour administration, employment relations and informal labour. In the past, he has worked as a faculty at the V.V. Giri National Labour Institute, Noida specializing in labour laws and labour administration. He has also worked as Assistant Professor in the National Institute of Rural Development, Hyderabad, in connection with works related to BPL Census 2011.

Qualifications

PhD. in Economics (CESP-JNU), MPhil Economics (Jadvapur University) MSc in Economics (honours) (Calcutta University), PGDM from NIPM (equivalent to MBA)

Experience

Dr. Kingshuk Sarkar had worked for Govt. of West Bengal as Labour Administrator for over two decades. He has worked as a Fellow at the V V Giri National Labour Institute, Noida for three years on deputation. Worked as Assistant Professor in the National Institute of Rural Development, Hyderabad on deputation. Govt. of India, in connection with works related to BPL Census 2011. Worked as guest faculty at the Department of Economics, Jamia Millia Islamia, New Delhi, for two years. Overall his experiences encompass both administrative and academic perspectives. He has carried out a number of research projects on various aspects of the informal labour market in India. He has written extensively on industrial relations and labour law matters.
