The Centre for Public Policy & Governance (CPPG), Goa Institute of Management (GIM), and the Department of Economics, Jadavpur University (JU) recently organized the 1st Collaborative National Conference on ‘The State of India’s Labour Market: Challenges and Opportunities’ on March 28, 2025, at Jadavpur University, Kolkata.
The conference featured 24 paper presentations by scholars, researchers, and practitioners, covering three key sub-themes: Trends in Employment, Quality of Employment & Decent Work Deficit, and Gender Disparities in Accessing Work. Additionally, a panel discussion on ‘Increasing Decent Employment and Livelihood Opportunities in the Present Context’ brought together experts, including Prof. Sebastian Morris (CPPG, GIM), Prof. Ishita Mukherjee (University of Calcutta), Ms. Anchita Ghatak (Women’s Rights Activist & Development Professional), and Shri Atanu Chakraborty (AICCTU, West Bengal Unit). The discussion was moderated by Dr. Kingshuk Sarkar (CPPG, GIM).
